Year 7 pupils have been learning the basics of programming this term, using ‘Scratch’, a free software application designed by MIT in the USA.
Scratch is available to download from http://scratch.nit.edu if anybody wants to try it out at home!

The Year 5’s bridge building project came to a conclusion this week with the following results:
The top photo is the complete ‘spaghetti’ bridge – the overall winner!!
It took a total weight of 57kg
The team gained extra marks for design and excellent teamwork!

The middle photo is the complete ‘straws’ bridge – 2nd place
This also took a total weight of 57kg and gained extra marks for design.

The bottom photo is the complete ‘newspaper’ bridge – commendable 3rd place
This took a total weight of 24kg
Team: Olivia Campbell, Charlotte Harper, Hamish Gardner, Oliver Shutt & Henry Allen-Jones
All teams worked really hard on these and we’re asked to test initial designs, then re-design and test again. Above are the final results after the re-design.
Team spaghetti held the most weight before the re-design process with team newspaper shortly behind them.
