Cheltenham Literary Festival

Ten members of Ms Case’s Creative Writing Club were lucky enough to go to the Cheltenham Literary Festival together on Sunday. It was a gorgeous day and packed with fun. Seren and Mrs Gooch got to perform comedy sketches on stage with Tony Robinson (aka Baldrick). It was all based on his very funny History books for kids. Alex, Tom and Henry met Derek Landy, the author of the brilliantly dark and funny Skulduggery Pleasant. They discovered that his favorite colour really is pink! They also found out the answer the’ BEST question in the world EVER’…What IS your favorite cheese? (you had to be there!). Abi, Seren and Tom got to chat to Professor Robert Winston after his talk on his new book ‘That’s Life’ which seemed to involve a lot of information about bowels and breathing in DNA? He happily answered lots of their curious science questions. Finally they met Helen Dunmore, author of the magical adventure series:The Ingo Chronicles. The most well recieved question of the day was put to her by Alex… ‘Would you like a cookie?’ Even the sound man appeared from his hidy hole to help answer that one! It was a great day, a big thank you to Ms Case for organizing and leading it.

Olivia at Wycliffe Orchestral Festival

On Sunday 14th October Olivia Campbell took part in Wycliffe College’s orchestral festival for young musicians (of grade 2 and above) led by director of music Mr Ed Jenkins. They played excerpts from Star Wars, the Grand March from Verdi’s Aida and an Abba medley. It was full and exhausting day but a great experience for Livvy, the orchestra achieving so much in a short space of time.
