Year 7 Geography Fieldwork Enquiry

Congratulations to Year 7 who interviewed 313 shoppers at the Mall, Cribbs Causeway on Friday 23rd January. The pupils were praised by the customers on their politeness, beaming smiles and very smart uniforms during their 55 minute survey. They focused on 2 questions:

• What was your main reason for visiting the Mall today?

• Where did you travel from today to get to the Mall?

The variety of shops was cited as the main reason (77/313) by the shoppers. The majority of the interviewees came from the Bristol area (123/313) or South Gloucestershire/Gloucester (96/313). Years 7 performed impressively and were a credit to Tockington.

Patrick Ryan Visit

We were very lucky this week to welcome Patrick Ryan, a professional storyteller, to TMS. He told stories to everyone from Year R to Year 8. He was entertaining and incredibly good at telling stories. He also exercised our brains with riddles and games. He demonstrated a number of different techniques for telling stories confidently and for using our imaginations. Years 7 and 8 had a workshop in the afternoon and learned how to make up stories at the drop of a hat. There was a definite buzz about school after his visit and even the English teachers got a little masterclass of their own after school. This made a very useful contribution to the storytelling which we are doing in school this term in Years 3 to 8 and will tie in well as we head towards the Radio 2 500 Words Competition.
