Lower School

Tockington Manor Lower School provides a safe, secure and stimulating learning environment for children aged 4-7 (Reception to Year 2). In small classes the children are encouraged to grow in confidence and independent thought, through carefully planned activities that utilise the fully equipped classrooms and extensive school facilities and grounds. Our staff are committed to ensuring all children reach their highest potential by tailoring their teaching to the children’s individual needs and interests.
 
In the Lower School we lay the foundations for Literacy and Numeracy skills and form the skills needed to be an active and caring member of the wider Tockington Manor community. In Reception the children follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum building on the skills they have learnt in the Nursery. The Early Years Foundation Stage provision at Tockington Manor has received an ‘Outstanding’ rating from Ofsted in the last inspection, confirming that at Tockington:
 

“Children flourish in the nurturing environment where they are appropriately challenged and stimulated.”

 

In Years 1 and 2 the children enjoy topics such as Toys, Brunel, The Seaside and Homes these are brought to life through trips, workshops and interactive lessons in the classroom. The children also have lessons with subject specialist staff for Swimming, French, Music and Games.

The Lower School day runs from 8.20 to 3.15, we offer a breakfast and aftercare facility where the children can take part in supervised play activities with qualified staff. There is also the chance to join a club, we offer Soglo Multi Sport, Judo, Ballet, Gardening, Street Dance and much more.
